What Is Hollow Knight?

Hollow Knight is a 2D action-adventure hand-crafted that is set deep below the sleepy town of Dirtmouth within the fallen city of insects of Hallownest. You are the Knight, a little quiet wanderer with a nail-like blade and an unspoken motivation to see all the secrets, rot and still beauty of the world.

On the one hand, Hollow Knight can be viewed as a mere platformer initially. Take a moment or two in the dungeons, however, and you will see what it really is. The world is so wide and intertwined, and it is purposely disorganized. The quest markers do not guide you, there are no long explanations to spell out things. It is a game that has faith in you to explore, discover, lose your way and gradually build the narrative of the game solely through exploration.

How to Play Hollow Knight 

Hollow Knight is a combination of three main components: the ability to use a certain platformer, combat based on skills, and exploration. You will jump over risky spaces, avoid an attack of enemies and keep a good time. Fighting is simple, leaping, stabbing, evasion, but not simple to involve. Foes and bosses require patience, identifying patterns, and control. Success can only come after failure and when it happens, each success is well deserved.

As you progress, new abilities reshape how you move and fight, unlocking hidden paths and rewarding players who explore thoroughly rather than rush forward.

Hallownest quietly remembers how you explore it. Characters respond differently based on your discoveries, environments shift, and subtle changes appear as you uncover more of the kingdom’s past. The reactions are never proclaimed in the game just made you observe them.
