The Backrooms isThe Backrooms is a first-person horror exploration game inspired by the well-known internet creepypasta. It all started with an inexplicable picture of endless yellow rooms with dirty carpet.

You fall out of reality and find yourself stuck in a never-ending maze of empty corridors and lost rooms in the game, when you slip on the no-collide button. Everything looks the same. The lights flicker. The atmosphere is unfriendly and humid. It does not have any classic jump scares. It is the atmosphere, sound design, and this sense of something watching you as you uncover more that makes the horror.

How to Play The Backrooms

The gameplay focuses on exploration and awareness. You walk through empty rooms and long corridors. Many areas look identical. It is easy to get lost.

During the game you should:

• The maze feels endless. Some hostile entities may appear here.

Level 1 - Machinery Zone

• This level appears after leaving Level 0.
• You will see: industrial machines, fog and standing water, darker lighting
• Exploration becomes harder.

Level 2 - Industrial Tunnels

• This level is darker and more dangerous.
• You will find: long factory tunnels, hot steam vents, narrow corridors
• This area is often the final step before escape.
