About Size It Up

Size It Up is a clever visual estimation puzzle about real-world scale. Each round gives you a fixed reference with a known measurement and a mystery silhouette that you can resize. Your job is to judge the size ratio, adjust the target, and lock in your estimate before seeing the actual measurement.

The challenge comes from perception rather than memorizing exact numbers. Animals, landmarks, vehicles, and other objects can look surprisingly different once they share the same scale. A game contains five comparisons, each worth up to 100 points, for a maximum score of 500. Because the puzzle changes daily, there is always another set of proportions to figure out - and plenty of chances to discover that your mental image of something was wildly off.

Key Features of Size It Up

  • Visual Size Estimation: Resize a mystery silhouette based on a known reference.
  • Real-World Comparisons: Judge the scale of animals, objects, landmarks, and more.
  • Five Daily Rounds: Complete five new comparisons in each daily puzzle.
  • Accuracy Scoring: Earn up to 100 points per round and 500 points overall.
  • Instant Size Reveal: See the recorded measurement and how close your estimate was after locking it in.

How to Play Size It Up

You don't need to know the exact measurement. The trick is using the reference to work out a believable proportion.

Core Gameplay

Each round places a reference silhouette beside a target whose size you must estimate. Check the measurement being compared, then think about the relationship between the two objects: is the target roughly half as large, twice as large, or somewhere in between?

Resize the target until the proportions look right. You can also reposition it or zoom the view when the difference in scale makes comparison difficult. Once you're satisfied, lock in your estimate. The actual size is then revealed and your score is calculated from how close your proportion was to the correct one. Repeat the process across all five rounds.

Size Estimation Tips

  • Think in Ratios: Start with simple comparisons such as half, double, or three times the reference.
  • Check the Measurement: Make sure you're comparing the requested height or length, not just overall visual area.
  • Find a Familiar Anchor: Use what you already know about the reference before estimating the target.
  • Make a Rough Guess First: Get into the correct size range before making smaller adjustments.
  • Use Zoom for Big Differences: Zoom changes your view, not the size ratio, making extreme comparisons easier to judge.

Trust your sense of scale and see how close you can get to a perfect 500 in Size It Up.
